Hilary Hampel - Homeopathy in Liverpool, Merseyside

I trained at the North West College of Homeopathy and qualified in 1989.
In 1992 I was admitted on the register of the Society of Homeopaths.
Following a two year post-graduate course at the Dynamis School for Advanced Homœopathic Studies I graduated in 1996.

It was during my 2nd year at the Dynamis School that I took part in the homeopathic testing of Salmon, along with 24 other students. This was my first experience of being involved in a ‘proving’ (homeopathic testing of remedies).

My involvement in a number of 'provings' since then has shown me that a homeopath's personal process of taking medicines in this way faciltates an authenticity that is the key to truly understanding both the remedies, patients and the healing process, on a level that cannot be understood from merely reading the literature. It's like the difference between reading about how to drive a car from a manual and actually driving a car.

Following the Salmon proving I then took part in the Xenon proving with the Aurora Proving Group; and for a number of years was a prover in Melissa Assilem's Greek seminar provings where I proved Octopus, Petrified Sequoia, Venus, Stem Cell and the Greek Tree Essences.

Proving these remedies has not only assisted me tremendously in my own development but has also helped me to refine the way in which I practice.

Having been keen to ‘spread the good news’ about the benefits of homeopathy I have run a number of homeopathy classes on Merseyside over the years. I have also been a regional tutor and supervisor for homeopathy students and have lectured in hospitals. I ran a workshop at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital Inauguration Conference on ‘Complementary Therapies’, and have taught midwives, as also nursing, midwifery and medical students at Liverpool John Moores University. Most recently I have been teaching on the Holistic Therapies course at Liverpool's Communiversity.

Following a talk I gave at the Liverpool meeting of Verity, the self-help organisation for women whose lives are affected by Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), I was asked to write an article on how homeopathy can help women with PCOS. If you would like a copy of this article please email me.

I am a registered member of the Society of Homeopaths and abide by their Code of Ethics and Practice and also have professional indemnity insurance with them. This is the largest professional association for homeopaths in the UK, and the oldest, established in 1978.

I am committed to a programme of CPD (Continuous Professional Development). I have individual supervision, and attend both national and international seminars and conferences as part of my continuing development.

As a result of my knowledge of German I have also translated a variety of homeopathy-related documents, including five homeopathic remedy provings.
