The initial consultation usually lasts approximately an hour, with follow-up appointments of approximately 30 minutes after 4 - 12 weeks.

My aim will be to understand how it is to be YOU with your group of
symptoms at this point in time. To do this I will be enquiring about what is affecting you at present, and whether there has been a past situation/s that could have contributed to this. I will want to know about your symptoms in depth, both present and previous medical history and any conflicts, problems, or life traumas you are experiencing now, or have experienced in the past. If there are sensitive areas I will carefully encourage you to describe these in a non-judgemental way. I will also be interested in your likes and dislikes in life (anything from foods, pastimes, to climate, work-life) and what it is that makes you different from others with the same group of symptoms.

Over the years I have also successfully treated a great many babies, inflants, younger children and teenagers. Where they are not old enough to verbalise how they feel I will enquire about makes her/him different from others, also observing how your child conducts her/himself, finding out about the likes and dislikes, in addition to information from you.

Once I have all the the information, having put together all of the pieces of a jugsaw puzzle that makes up the person, I will then prescribe a remedy based on both the physical and psychological symptoms, as it is assumed that the body and mind are dynamically interconnected and directly influence each other, and psychological symptoms often play a primary role in selection of the correct remedy.

The nature of homeopathic treatment is to reverse the degeneration, to restore health, to increase the vitality and to heal from the inside out. How long your treatment will take depends on a variety of factors, one of the main ones being how many ‘knots’ there are in the ball of wool that makes up you - or your child - as an individual. The ‘knots’ I refer to are the tendencies and susceptibilities that come with us at birth and those that we acquire during our life - some knots being more difficult to unravel than others.

It sometimes happens that I will know which remedy to prescribe without having to refer to homeopathy reference books. Most of the time, however, I will refer to MacRepertory and ReferenceWorks homeopathic software to find the one remedy out of over 4,000 that will best suit you or your child. In addition I may well advise you to visit your doctor for diagnostic tests.

There are many everyday ailments that are simple to treat with homeopathic remedies. It is easy to build up a small kit by buying remedies as and when you need them. Health food stores and most chemists sell a good range of remedies for home prescribing. However, it is really useful to have a wider selection in the form of a kit.
